Advance Games’ first computer learning game, Say-N-Play, utilizes Eduspeak (a voice recognition engine developed by SRI, International) and provides a fun and visually engaging environment for children between the ages of four and nine to practice speech sound pronunciation. The idea for Say-N-Play was originally developed to provide children with speech difficulty an engaging alternative to traditional speech therapy drill activities. The game has, however, turned out to be an excellent product for all children as a means of reinforcing proper sound and word pronunciation. It also offers the additional benefit of reading skill development as all words are presented in the written as well as the pictorial format. The graphics in Say-N-Play are vivid, full of color, fun, and child-appropriate. The software features colorful characters and various games to choose from. One of these games is a racing match where the player must pronounce words correctly in order to move ahead and win the race. For every word the player says correctly, he or she is rewarded with an entertaining animation. Multiple levels and a progress report application allow the player, parents, teacher and/or speech therapist to monitor the child’s success.

Allergy Monkey

When Melissa and Tom found out their 4 year old daughter wouldn’t grow out of her peanut allergy, their first reaction was concern. How would they keep her safe? How would they alert people to the fact she couldn’t eat nuts? They did a lot of research looking for ways to accomplish this…cool, fun ways she would like, and they couldn’t find anything THEY liked. So, as is their way in everything they do, they got creative…and Allergy Monkey was born. Melissa and Tom spent a year brainstorming ideas – they brainstormed at night after the kids were asleep and in the morning over coffee. They talked to friends and researched allergies and ultimately, they created a line of products - t-shirts, bag tags, backpacks, lunch sacks, dog tags and zipper pulls - that will alert others to a child’s allergy…and they have made it fun and cool. And, knowing that millions of children suffer from allergies, they feel strongly about supporting allergy research so Allergy Monkey will donate 5% of the net profits of each order to: Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network; Save the Children; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
